Who the class is for

The 260Local Credit Class is for residents who are new to credit, want to strengthen an existing credit history, or need a clearer path after missed payments, collections, high balances, or reporting errors.

No previous financial knowledge is required. The goal is to make credit easier to understand and give participants practical actions they can evaluate for their own situation.

What the class covers

The class separates useful credit-building practices from expensive shortcuts and unrealistic promises.

  • How credit reports and credit scores work
  • Payment history, credit usage, account age, and credit inquiries
  • Responsible ways to establish credit for the first time
  • How to review reports and dispute legitimate reporting errors
  • Approaches to balances, missed payments, collections, and debt
  • How to recognize misleading credit-repair claims and costly products

Progress—not promises

Credit improvement usually takes time, and results depend on each person's history and actions. The class does not promise a particular score, the removal of accurate negative information, loan approval, or an overnight fix.

The program provides general education. It is not individualized financial, legal, lending, tax, or credit-repair advice.
